Archos now shipping 101 G9 Turbo tablet
French consumer electronics company Archos is now shipping its 101 G9 Turbo tablet.
As an update to the original 101 G9 tablet, the 101 G9 Turbo boasts the same OMAP CPU, but with a speed bump from 1GHz to 1.2GHz and a larger 16GB SSD. Beyond those differences, the Turbo model is practically similar to the original, down to its 10.1-inch display, 1280x800 resolution screen, H.264 video support and Android Honeycomb software. 3G support can be enabled by an optional G9 Stick.
The smaller Archos 80 G9 Turbo includes largely the same specs as the 101 G9 Turbo, but in a more compact 8-inch 4:3 screen.
A report back in July saw new 101 G9 tablets with dual-core 1.5GHz OMAP CPUs. It is unfortunate that the new “Turbo” versions are equipped with a slower dual-core 1.2GHz processors instead.
The 101 G9 Turbo tablet is now available for £300 ($470 USD). The North American version of the site has yet to offer the same tablet for sale. Meanwhile, the 80 G9 Turbo is still not available through the Archos online store as of this writing.
