Apple has just released iOS 26, arguably the biggest iPhone update in several years. iOS 26 is now available for installation on the iPhone 11, the second-generation iPhone SE and all newer iPhones. The iPhone 17 already ships with the new operating system.
iOS 26 introduces a completely redesigned user interface based on Apple's Liquid Glass design, making more elements than ever before partially transparent. Apple has redesigned all app icons, the lock screen has new personalization options, and buttons and pop-up windows look now like transparent glass.
The update also introduces simplified operation for the camera app and a redesigned phone app that displays missed calls and favorites on one screen. Apple Intelligence now allows real-time speech translation system-wide, not only for phone calls and video chats, but also for videos. A new Games app allows users to download purchased games as well as those included in Apple Arcade and play multiplayer matches with friends.
Similar to Google's "Circle to Search", Visual Intelligence can answer questions about objects in photos, even directly in the Camera app. Furthermore, Apple Maps can now display alternative routes, while selected routes, such as the way home, can be directly selected via the Home screen widget. Apple Wallet now scans your email inbox to display orders that were not paid for with Apple Pay. Further details about iOS 26 can be found here.
