Teaser
According to the IDC report Apple continues to rule in the first position however a bit of their got lost to Android devices

Earlier we saw that Apple captured 68.3 percent of the worldwide tablet market with approximately 9.3 million units of iPad 2 shipped in the second quarter of 2011. But in the third quarter it seems to have dropped to 61.5 percent according to a research from IDC.

However, this decrease in share is not proportional to the number of units as the number of units they sold is around 11.1 million in the third quarter. Just to compare if we take prospective the next on the list is Samsung, which has around 5.6 percent share in the market. This percentage of share is over 10times behind of the leader.

It also pointed out that the overall market of the tablets has also increased a lot by about 23.9percent which is about 18.1 million units. This is also about 264.5 percent increase from a year ago.

Although Apple is very far from competing, but the Android tablet market has also improved a lot and the IDC even expects them to increase in the Q4. The recently introduced Kindle Fire and the Noble’s Nook Tablet have turned to be an important factor. These two Android tablets are more likely to increase their share in the world market.

Analysts believe that Android tablets may reach a higher position with the help of the Android 4.0 version. Even with the upcoming iPad versions and growing physical store presence in key emerging market like Asia/Pacific Apple may manage to maintain the global leadership.
