It is reasonable to feel that the days of truly budget-friendly gaming GPUs are long gone. However, there is no denying that both AMD and Nvidia have pretty decent offerings in the so-called budget segment of gaming GPUs in 2025. That said, a recent poll seems to indicate which GPU reigns supreme in the hearts of gamers, at least in terms of price to performance.
Radeon RX 9060 XT: Undisputed price-performance leader
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT won the poll titled "Which GPU would you buy?" by quite a substantial margin. The poll, hosted by the well-known and respected publication TechPowerUp, gathered well over 16,000 entries. The RX 9060 XT took first place with over 8,500 votes, with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti coming in at second place with only 3,500 votes. Needless to say, the 5060 Ti is noticeably more performant than the RX 9060 XT, as indicated by our review of the card.
At an official MSRP of $349, the Radeon RX 9060 XT undoubtedly offers great performance for its price. Of course, ray-tracing performance is still a big drawback for Team Red, but traditional rasterization performance makes the card quite enticing compared to the $429 RTX 5060 Ti (16 GB). The $250 Intel Arc B580 gaming GPU arrived with a bang a while back, and ranked third in the poll with over 1,700 votes so far.
Thankfully, gaming GPUs with just 8 GB of VRAM struggled to gather a significant number of votes. For instance, the 8 GB variants of the AMD RX 9060 XT as well as the 5060 Ti barely managed to cross the 3% mark each. The Nvidia RTX 5050 (8 GB), priced similarly to the Arc B580 (12 GB), performed just as poorly, which is certainly indicative of the fact that 8 GB of VRAM is, simply put, no longer feasible in 2025.
