The ZTE Nubia Z17 family is one of the most attractive smartphone lineups that cannot be acquired in the US at this time. The first one to hit the market was the Nubia Z17 Mini, which arrived in May. Next, the standard version surfaced with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 6 GB RAM on board. A model with 8 GB RAM followed in late August. Earlier this week, ZTE silently introduced the Nubia 17 Lite.
The new Nubia Z17 Lite was spotted last month on Geekbench. Back then, various sources claimed it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 under the hood. Now, we can all see that the final product comes with a Snapdragon 653, 6 GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage, the same 5.5-inch edge-to-edge display as the Nubia Z17, but comes with a slightly improved main camera setup.
The Nubia Z17 Lite has two 13 MP sensors on the back, a minor upgrade when compared to the 12 MP + 13 MP pair offered by the Nubia Z17. The front camera has 16 MP and 80-degree wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture. This handset's battery features Quick Charge 3.0 and has a capacity of 3,200 mAh.
This premium mid-range smartphone will hit China next week in Aurora Blue, Obsidian Black, and Black Gold. The price tag reads CNY¥2,499 or around US$379. Unfortunately, the Nubia Z17 Lite is not expected to reach the US market anytime soon. On the other hand, it would not be a surprise to see it launch in India later this fall.
