Wortmann AG to release a new semi-rugged 10-inch convertible Tablet PC
Wortmann AG, the second largest PC manufacturer in Germany, will soon start selling its latest semi-rugged convertible Tablet PC dubbed Terra Mobile Industry Pad. Targeted towards all those mobile field operations professionals, this new device delivers a dual-core CPU, integrated graphics and a “stylish design”.
Configuration
The Industry Pad is powered by an Intel Atom central processing unit with two cores that have a clack frequency of 1.6GHz. In addition, this device sports a rotating 10-inch LED-backlit resistive touch-screen, which delivers a native resolution of 1024-by-600 pixels. Based on an Intel NM10 chipset, Wortmann’s new Tablet PC will reportedly offer an integrated GMA graphics controller and an optional external optical drive that can be connected to the system using one of the built-in USB port.
The standard configuration also includes 2GB of internal DDR2 memory and 40GB of storage space in form of a solid-state drive (SSD).
Connectivity
Users can stay connected thanks to the built-in Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n, UMTS and Bluetooth adapters. Furthermore, there are two USB 2.0 ports, VGA output, jacks for headphones and a microphone as well as a memory card reader slot. An integrated GPS module and a PAD-pin for signatures are also available.

According to the product page, the new Terra Mobile Industry Pad will ship with a pre-installed Windows 7 Professional operating system. The unit measures 268 x 208 x 38 mm and has a weight of 1.8kg with the built-in 6-cell 7650 mAh Lithium-ion battery (battery life is approximately 7.5 hrs).
Reportedly, Wortmann’s latest semi-rugged convertible Tablet PC will be available for order in July of this year and will have a starting price of €999 ($1,420/£887).
