Voltaic Systems introduces a solar laptop charger which can charge the laptops along with other mobile devices

Now charging your laptop in remote places where no power supply is available won’t be a big problem. Voltaic Systems has introduced a complete redesign of its Generator laptop charge, which features a 16.8 Watts of rugged solar power, a 60 watt hour universal laptop battery and a streamlined protective case. It is called as the Generator Solar Laptop Charger.

The Generator will be capable of providing a backup up to 45 minutes of laptops runtime for every one hour in the sun. It will be capable of powering all of the modern devices including the tablets, laptops, Netbooks and even digital cameras and Smartphones. Apart from charging a device from the solar panels directly the Generator also holds enough power with which it can charge some of the laptops twice. It can also be recharged with a wall charger if required.

Shayne MacQuade, CEO of Voltaic Systems believes, this device will be making the laptops quite comparable with the tablets with battery backup point of view as the tablets provide a lot of backup compared to the traditional laptops.

The Generator has a rugged 16.8 Watt solar panel, which is waterproof and built to withstand the abuse of everyday uses. It is mainly designed as a briefcase with 575 cubic inches of storage space, and also has a padded laptop sleeve, a document sleeve along with a plenty of mesh pockets for adapters and cables.

It contains a V60 battery which has 60 watt hours of capacity, and is a bit larger than the regular laptop batteries. For charging the generator has one laptop charging port and another for 12-18V devices. It also includes USB ports for charging tablets and other 5V devices.

The device is priced at $399. It comes with 5 standard phone and universal adapters and 10 standard laptop adapters to connect to it. So if you are a traveler and prefer to use your laptop along with other mobile devices, when you are away from the reach of power supply, then you should go for this device.
