The Wolf Among Us Remastered finally has a release date, with visual upgrades, bonus content in tow
Telltale has confirmed The Wolf Among Us Remastered will launch October 29 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, bringing an upgraded version of the studio's beloved 2013 noir adventure back into the spotlight more than a decade after it first released.
The remaster was first revealed during 2026's Summer Game Fest, and its release date was confirmed this week via a new trailer shown at Gamescom. On PC, the game will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with physical editions also planned, and co-publisher PM Studios handling the release alongside Telltale.
Enhanced visuals and bonus content in tow
Telltale says the remaster includes enhanced visuals, improved performance and accessibility options, a new Noir Mode for black-and-white play, and more than an hour of bonus content covering behind-the-scenes footage, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. In its press release, the studio said it aimed to honor the original story while bringing Fabletown to life again "through enhanced visuals, refined character and environment presentation," alongside broader technical upgrades to animation, audio, resolution, and framerate.
The Wolf Among Us originally released across five episodes between 2013 and 2014: Faith, Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep's Clothing, and Cry Wolf, serving as a prequel to Bill Willingham's Fables comic books. It casts players as Bigby Wolf, a reformed Big Bad Wolf working as sheriff of Fabletown, a hidden community of fairy tale characters living in New York City, as he investigates a brutal murder that pulls him into the neighborhood's darker corners.
The original was widely considered one of Telltale's strongest and most acclaimed titles before the studio went bankrupt and shut down in 2018. A relaunched version of Telltale has spent the years since balancing revivals of its classic catalog with the long process of finally following up on Bigby's story.
That sequel, The Wolf Among Us 2, now has a 2027 release window after one of the messier development histories in recent gaming memory. AdHoc Studio, originally brought on to write and shoot the full season, exited the project in 2023 to focus on its own game Dispatch, and Telltale had to fend off cancellation rumors as recently as late 2024. Trick Studios has since stepped in to carry the project forward, and the remaster's release looks like a deliberate way to rebuild an audience for Fabletown before the sequel finally arrives. It's been a long wait: some fans on the game's Steam community hub have been asking about a sequel since practically the day the first season ended.
