Tesla has announced a number of fresh discounts for its vehicles, including the new Model Y. These cover groups that Tesla hasn't offered dedicated deals and discounts to before.

Tesla has drastically widened the category of buyers who get a discount on the purchase of its vehicles, including the price of the new Model Y.

The Military Purchase Program for army personnel and their spouses is now expanded. Members of the US military are verified via ID.me and encompass veterans and retirees, active-duty personnel, as well as their spouses. They will get $1,000 off any new Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, or the Cybertruck that was previously unavailable.

"Tesla vehicles are made in America, perfect for everyday American heroes," says the tagline of the new expanded discount program.

Besides the ID-verified military veterans, retirees, active-duty members, or their spouses and surviving spouses, the $1,000 discount on any new Tesla is now offered to first responders, too.

Another new twist is that people in education, students and teachers alike, are also entitled to get $1,000 off on the Model Y, Model 3, and all the rest of the Tesla portfolio.

After verifying their Tesla discount eligibility status via the standard ID.me process and placing the order, all military members, first responders, teachers, or students, should see the discounted price on the new Model Y, or any other Tesla of their liking.

Tesla is currently running other Model Y deals, such as a 1.99% APR financing rate offer that drops the buyer's monthly payments, and which can be combined with the newly minted student or first responder discounts, too.
