The 4G craze has hit the US hard and carriers are in for a battle. T-Mobile and Sprint are at the forefront in providing 4G services in the US. After Sprint taking a shot at producing a 4G tablet that is to be launched in 2011, T-Mobile also has something similar in store.
Reportedly, T-Mobile would also be launching its 4G tablet in 2011. However, one must be told that currently T-Mobile uses a HSPA+ network, and hence, the tablet wouldn’t actually perform as a proper 4G device as ITU standards require way higher speeds for a network to qualify as 4G. Talking of its competitor, even Sprint’s WiMax network doesn’t qualify as 4G by ITU standards. Even then, both operators have been marketing their networks as 4G when actually their networks can be best termed as “pre-4G”.
No specific details have been given out by T-Mobile about its announced tablet, same as is with Sprint. But it would be a daunting task for both the providers to push a tablet early next year as the iPad 2 is coming in February next.
