In addition to the One M9, T-Mobile and HTC have decided to release Android 7.0 Nougat for the One M8, which was was released almost exactly three years ago in March of 2014. The update is live and currently being pushed to devices via an over-the-air update. It's very unusual for an Android device to be updated two years after release, much less three. This rare show of long-term support will no doubt become a selling point for future HTC devices.
Currently, all other One M8 phones are running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which was pushed out to them about a year ago. Even if other variants of the M8 don't receive the update from their carrier, this is still good news for all. Within weeks, this update will no doubt be ported over to other models of the same phone. If we're lucky, this could even spur other device manufacturers to improve their update policies. Let us know how the update is treating your device in a comment below.
