The original Samsung Galaxy, when launched, came pre-loaded with Android 2.2 aka Froyo. Long after the Android 3.1 started rolling out in some of the competitors, Sprint finally decided to give the Gingerbread edge to the Galaxy Tab 7-inch. The US mobile carrier released a new build called "GINGERBREAD.EF17" that will be rolled out in stages over the next four days.
The update is expected to go live over the air (OTA), and can be downloaded by going to “About my Galaxy Tab” and then select “System updates”. Let the download finish and update the system – that’s it!
This is no Android 3.1, but the Galaxy Tab owners can atleast take heart by the fact that they got something. And even the HTC Flyer has only Android 2.4.
