Camera smartphones are all the rage. After the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom – a camera with a 16 megapixel CMOS image sensor, 10x optical zoom, xenon flash and an attached smartphone – Sony is about to introduce a high-end camera phone of its own.
At the moment, rumors about the Sony Xperia i1 "Honami" are making the rounds. According to a system dump circulated on the web, the i1 Honami is equipped with a fast Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset from Qualcomm just like the recently announced 6.44-inch Xperia Z Ultra phablet. A special feature in the i1 is an integrated Cybershot camera with a 20 megapixel sensor, meaning that it can record Ultra HD, aka 4K, video.
Apart from the high-resolution sensor, Sony has apparently also equipped the i1 camera with SteadyShot image stabilization and Augmented Reality (AR) to insert additional information into the photos. Other than the Samsung Galaxy, the i1 Honami will also have to compete with the Nokia EOS.
