Archive.org versionWhere this laptop excels is in the level of style it provides. The combination of a glossy red lid and faux brushed-aluminium palmrest creates a high-end look that belies its low price. If you're seeking the best looking laptop you can find for less than £400, this could be the one for you.

Archive.org versionIf we had a pound for every time a manufacturer tried to spice up its range by spraying a laptop lid red, we'd have about £73. Actually, we'd have £74 now that Samsung's released the R730. The Samsung R730 is a pretty decent budget laptop. It's not particularly fast or well equipped, but it's an attractive and dependable day-to-day machine that'll serve you well both for business and pleasure purposes

Archive.org versionSamsung generally prefers to stick to the mainstream segment of the laptop market and the R730-JA02UK we're looking at today is a good example. It's a 17.3in desktop replacement laptop that retails for around £480, making the Samsung R730 a potential option for anyone who wants a large, functional machine at a reasonable price. There's nothing particularly outstanding about the Samsung R730, but it's a solid, well-made machine that offers good value. Were it £30 or so cheaper it would score higher, but nonetheless it's a decent entry-level option.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M: The graphics core of the Intel GL40 and GS40 chipset features a slower clocked GMA 4500MHD (400 versus 533 MHz). Because of the slower core speed, full Blu-Ray Logo support is not given and the gaming performance is a bit worse.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
