Samsung NF310 Atom N550 netbook now available
Samsung has something big in store, it’s the brand new Samsung NF310 10-inch dual core Atom N550 netbook. Unveiled last week in the US, this interesting device boasts of an enviable HD 1366 x 768 display and is adorned with a sleek matte finish. Other specifications include 1GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB HDD and SRS Premium Sound and the usual array of ports. Windows 7 features as its user interface and connectivity is assured owing to 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 10/100 LAN and Bluetooth 3.0.
Liliputing reports an unboxing of a demo unit of the new gadget and was surprised to find it in a relatively smaller package. Although the exterior is quite glossy, there seem to be less smudges than usual. The body starts at a tapered front but gets really bulky towards the back – mainly due to the battery beneath. This also gives it a wavy look when viewed from the sides.
On the left side are the VGA port, power out, one USB port and the mic+headphone jacks. The right side has two more USB ports along with, Ethernet out and provision for locking. The chiclet-styled keyboard looks comfortable along with the trackpad below.
To top it all off, there is also a not too bad 0.3MP webcam for those precious snapshots. One of the unique features of this gadget that deserves a mention would be its battery. Rated at 48Wh, 6600mAh , the battery unlike most other conventional ones, fits directly under the device instead of fitting in behind as one would expect it to. We expect 6-8hrs of life under normal conditions.
This is the first Samsung netbook to have the N550, and although some reports suspect of an NVIDIA graphics card – the Liliputing unit came with the Intel GMA 3150 integrated card. Priced at $399, it is already on sale in the US.
