AMD Ryzen 5 130 vs AMD Ryzen 5 7235HS

AMD Ryzen 5 130

► remove from comparison AMD R5 130

The AMD Ryzen 5 130 is a processor for thin and light laptops based of the Rembrandt refresh generation. The Ryzen packs six of the eight cores based on the Zen 3+ microarchitecture. They are clocked at 2.9 (guaranteed base clock) to 4.55 GHz (Turbo) and support SMT / Hyperthreading (12 threads).

The R5 130 is a renamed Ryzen 5 7535U from 2023 (and therefore similar to the even older Ryzen 5 6600U).

The Zen 3+ is a refresh of the Zen 3 architecture and should not offer a lot of changes. The chip offers modern features, like support for USB 4 (40 Gbps), PCI-E Gen 4 and DDR5-4800MT/s or LPDDR5-6400MT/s.

The performance should be identical to the Ryzen 5 7535U and quite similar to the old Ryzen 5 6600U due to only a slightly increased boost speed (+50MHz) and TDP (28 versus 15-25W).

The integrated GPU Radeon 660M is still a fast iGPUs based on the RDNA2 architecture and offers 6 of the 12 CUs at up to 1.9 GHz.

The Ryzen 7535U is manufactured in the older 6nm FinFET process at TSMC and specified at a TDP of 28W.

AMD Ryzen 5 7235HS

► remove from comparison AMD R5 7235HS

The AMD Ryzen 5 7235HS is a mobile processor for rather large notebooks (e.g. gaming laptops) based on the Rembrandt Refresh generation. The SoC contains four Zen 3+ cores (quad-core CPU) which are clocked from 3.2 GHz (guaranteed base clock) up to 4.2 GHz (turbo) and support SMT / Hyperthreading (8 threads). The chip is manufactured in the (at the time of release) modern 6nm process at TSMC and was presented at the beginning of 2023.

The performance is limited by the only 4 cores and reaches the level of a Core i7-1185G7 or Ryzen 5 4600U. The single-core performance is better in comparison and at the level of a Ryzen 5600U or the i7-1185G7 again. However, these estimates are still only based on a Geekbench 5.5 benchmark of a Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9.

The Rembrandt APUs offer some of the latest features, such as support for USB4 with 40 Gbps, PCI-E Gen 4 and DDR5-4800MT/s or LPDDR5-6400MT/s.

The Ryzen 5 7235HS does not integrate a graphics card (iGPU).

The TDP is specified at 35 - 54 watts, making the CPU also suitable for thinner (gaming) notebooks.
