More and more companies are apparently shifting their focus onto the very hot tablet market.  As many of you know, this year has already seen a plethora of new touch-screen portable mini-computers that lack a physical keyboard. One might even get confused as the devices are sporting various CPUs, displays and operating systems. The next PC maker to introduce a Tablet PC is Pioneer Computers, who have recently unveiled their DreamBook N10 based on Google’s Android OS.

Configuration

The maker has equipped this portable mini-computer with a 10.1 WXGA 16:9 capacitive multi-touch enabled (10 fingers) display that has a maximum supported resolution of 1024-by-600 pixels (an optional 1280x800 panel is also available).  In addition, the DreamBook N10 is powered by an NVIDIA T20 Harmony Tegra 250 SOC (System on a Chip) that incorporates a GeForce graphics controller and two Cortex A-9 (clocked at 1GHz) cores manufactured in 40nm technology.

Pioneer’s new Tablet PC reportedly houses 1GB of internal DDR2 memory and up to 16GB of storage capacity in form of a solid-state drive (SSD).

Connectivity

Future owners of the device can stay connected thanks to the built-in Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and 3G radios. Additionally, there are two USB ports, an SD card reader, an HDMI interface, a docking connector and an optional SIM card slot.

The DreamBook N10 also features two integrated cameras – one on the front (1.3MP) for video conferencing and a 5MP rear camera.

Other specs, pricing and availability

According to the product page, this new Tablet PC will ship with a pre-installed copy of Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. Moreover, it measures 264.7x176.3x10.5mm and has a starting weight of 670g with the built-in 6600mAh Li-polymer battery that delivers up to 10 hours of 1080p video playback on a single charge.

Other features include an optional GPS, a number of system status indicators and dedicated functional buttons as well as an accelerometer. The DreamBook N10 is now available for purchase and is priced at about US $478.
