An earlier report, based on a promotional image released by Huawei, put the Nova 4's launch date at December 17, 2018 (or less than 48 hours from now). Now, new official material released by the company has confirmed this date, and also provided more details on the launch event itself. It will take place at the Hunan International Convention and Exhibition Center in the city of Changsha, China.
This new round of teasers also shows the Nova 4 in a rear panel finish that fades from red to a shade of purple. It is not clear if this potential SKU is the red variant pictured in an earlier leak or if it is a novel special edition. The new images also highlights the fact that the Nova will come with a conventional rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and not a more updated option such as an in-display optical module.
On the other hand, the Nova 4 is set to exhibit a next-generation display feature of its own: a punch-hole display that integrates the selfie camera into the screen. This feature is to be found in only one other phone, the Samsung Galaxy A8s, to date. It will be interesting to see which of these devices does better, even if they are not released outside China.
