Next-gen Atom to come equipped with HD-capable Intel GMA3600
Intel’s Cedar processors plan to provide much better graphics performance than what is provided by current Pine Trail processors. These next generation Atom processors from Intel are due for launch by the year’s end. However the processing power provided by this processor is the same as the current one.
Apart from this we already know that Cedar Trail Platform would support 1080p HD support video playback and Blu-ray decoding this chip, but now additionally for graphics it will feature a GMA 3600 graphics core with Power VR technology. The earlier Intel Atom processors and the N570 chips didn’t feature hardware acceleration for HD video playback.
According to a report on UMPC Portal Cedar Trail system recently decoded a Blu-ray disc with H.264 video with DTS-HD audio and the computer usage remained under 20 percent. The HD video handling is the main reason for designing GMA 3600 graphics core.
Intel has also produced chips like Oak Trail and Menlow chips which use GMA 600 and GMA 700 graphics, with the capability of HD video playback earlier but they hardly come under comparison what Pine trail or cedar Trail chips offers.
