"Celebrate the Games" at the Gamescom 2010 in Cologne. From 19.08 – 22.08.2010 the biggest games- and entertainment-exhibition has opened its doors and 480 exhibitors are showing their newest creations and attractions. Not only are the notorious platforms in on it (PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360) but also new media, for example the iPad, iPhone or various online games.

This year's Gamescom takes place in Cologne for the second time now and takes over from the Games Convention in Leipzig. This year Gamescom once again offers a wide supporting programme and various events, which should attract people from all over the world. According to the organisers more than 480 exhibitors from 33 countries are present, which are showcasing a broad spectrum from children's games to adult entertainment. Alongside various sporting activities and new games there are additionally interesting offerings.  Among them are the "gamescomCamp", the "gamescom Stage" as well as the "gamescom City Festival" in Cologne's city centre.

Some highlights of Gamescom 2010 are already known. Among the new releases are, for example Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, Dragon Age 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Guild Wars 2, Patrician 4, Uncharted 3, Horizon or Crysis 2 (Multiplayer). For friends of sleek sport- and entertainment games, Gamescom 2010 offers the new FIFA 11, Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, F1 or the long awaited Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Gran Turismo 5 from Sony, which is finally released at the beginning of November. Furthermore, well known games from last year return, in the form of Diablo 3 from Blizzard or RUSE from Ubisoft.

Also, new gaming hardware is presented which you could marvel at for the first time at E3 in Los Angeles. Hot candidates in this category are the motion-controlled "PlayStation Move" from Sony or "Kinect" for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft. What are the new manufacturer's devices really good for? We briefly present some highlights of the gaming industry.
