MeeGo tablet prototype by LG to debut next month
Ever since Nokia began backing Windows Phone 7, MeeGo has found itself on the backburner. We’ve already seen a couple notebooks running MeeGo, but otherwise the OS hasn’t had much widespread support. That could soon change, however, as it looks like LG could be planning on utilizing the OS in a slew of devices that should be previewed next month.
According to an event listing for next month’s MeeGo conference, LG Electronics will be presenting a “porting experience of MeeGo 1.2 into multiple LG devices”. It appears as if LG is planning on displaying MeeGo’s features on a range of devices that include tablets, smartphones and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. LG should have a few prototype devices present but they will likely be updated later on.
Although it would be nice to think that MeeGo has a powerful backer in LG, the endeavor still appears to be in its infant stages. In any case, we should find out more about the devices at the MeeGo conference from May 23rd-25th. Make sure to check back then for more coverage of any new MeeGo developments.
