Wizards of the Coast has officially revealed its highly anticipated Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy collaboration set, which is scheduled to launch globally on June 13, 2025. The new trailer, released alongside an in-depth hour-long showcase, highlights an expansive card set that includes characters, monsters, locations, and themes from all 16 mainline Final Fantasy games.
As per the official reports, the collaboration has over 100 legendary creature cards, including borderless variants of iconic figures like Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Yuna, Lightning, and Emet-Selch. Further, fan-favourite summons like Bahamut, Shiva, and Leviathan make an appearance through a new card type that mimics their lore-accurate battlefield presence via lore counters and transformative mechanics.
As mentioned, art plays a central role, with Yoshitaka Amano and Tetsuya Nomura among the contributors. Amano shared a special message during the reveal, emphasising his excitement about merging Final Fantasy’s legacy with Magic’s gameplay. The set boasts the “largest collection of Final Fantasy artwork ever in a single game,” including ten borderless artist cards drawn in signature styles.
In the upcoming card collection, the serialised Golden Chocobo cards, black and neon Colourful Chocobo variants, and double-faced transformation cards, such as Sephiroth turning into his iconic One-Winged Angel form, are some of the rarest finds.
As mentioned, the Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy collection will be released on June 13th, which is a few weeks away. However, at the moment, fans can pre-order it through the official MTG website as well as on Amazon.
