Low cost Tablets to achieve 60% of the market by 2016

API research shows that the market will be soon occupied by the sub-$400 devices.

It’s been a few years since the launching of the first ever Apple iPad into the market, since then the market has revived and approached by nearly every other PC and Smartphone company. The research from market firm ABI Research’s count shows that there are about 220 tablet models available worldwide. While Apple’s iPad remains the market leader thought. ABI predicts that by the year 2016, 60 5 of the market will be taken over by the sub-$400 tablets like the Google Nexus Tab and Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Jeff Orr, the group director of consumer research has said that the majority of new entrant media tablet model has been in the sub-$400 segment which has its primary focus on the growth market of India and China. The strong wave of growth in this segment over a few years is expected to be taken away by adoption in the emerging market, says ABI in the eReaders that continue to see accelerated growth with total shipments allotting to more than 20% in 2012.
