Lenovo jumps to 2nd spot after HP in PC shipment

IDC and Gartner have come up with the rankings of the PC manufacturers for the third quarter of this year, with HP at its top

In this new age of laptops and notebooks, the PC’s are also continuing to make their way through the market. From the latest third quarter rankings of the world’s PC manufacturers by IDC and Gartner, it can be seen that there is 3.6percent growth of the shipments of the PC’s from the last years Q3. Although both the research firms acknowledged that these figures were, below their projections.

And among the manufacturers, HP still captures the top position with 16,652 shipments which makes about 18.1% of market share. Again Lenovo has acquired the second position with 13.7% market share and Dell slips down to the third position with 12% market share. Lenovo has taken a giant hop from last year’s Q3 to the Q3 of 2011, as they reported a growth of 36% which even led them to capture the second position.

The Acer group holds the fourth position and with 10percent of market share. They have been reported to have faced a reduction of about 20percent in sales from last year’s third quarter. The Asus is holding the fifth position with 6.5percent of market share and this is also reported as 30percent growth from last year’s third quarter.
