Leaked Sony Xperia Cosmos photo shows front-facing LED flash
Upleaks, a popular Twitter leakster, recently posted a photo of what he claims to be the upcoming Sony Xperia Cosmos, a mid-range Android smartphone aimed at selfie users. The leaked photo reveals a front-facing LED flash, a feature that's very rarely found on smartphones.
While upleaks mentioned that the smartphone will come with a MediaTek chipset, the leakster was unable to provide any further information regarding the hardware specs of the Xperia Cosmos. The last time Sony released a selfie-centric smartphone was back in August 2014, when the Japanese manufacturer announced the Sony Xperia C3, a smartphone with a front-facing LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera. The C3 came with modest hardware specs such as a 5.5-inch display running a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 chip paired with 1GB of RAM, an 8MP primary camera, 8GB of integrated storage space, and a microSD expansion slot. The leaked photo shows that the Sony Xperia Cosmos runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.
At the moment, it is unclear if the Sony Xperia Cosmos will be launched outside the Asian continent. Today's photo leak clearly shows that the Android user interface is in Chinese. Furthermore, the Xperia Z3 was also initially launched in China and then reached some European markets towards the end of 2014.
