The US tech corporation Hewlett-Packard has unveiled an updated version of its EliteBook 8470w mobile workstation. According to the manufacturer, this high-performance notebook is now available to customers in Japan and has a starting price of JPY 142,800 (about $1,805).

Based on an Intel QM77 Express Chipset, HP’s 8470w is reportedly aimed at professional users, who need a powerful system capable of running demanding software applications. Furthermore, the laptop comes equipped with up to a third generation (Ivy Bridge) Intel Core i7-3720QM vPro central processing unit, which is ranked 13 in our CPU Benchmark List and offers four physical cores clocked at 2.6GHz – 3.6GHz, 6MB of Level 3 cache and 45W max TDP (Thermal Design Power).

The EliteBook also sports a 14-inch LED-backlit widescreen display that has a maximum supported resolution of 1600-by-900 pixels, up to 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, a 500GB S.M.A.R.T-compatible hard drive and the AMD FirePro M2000 GPU (1GB GDDR5 VRAM) for mobile workstations.

Connectivity features include Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0+EDR adapters, two USB 3.0 ports, an eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port, FireWire, RGB, multi-in-one memory card reader and ExpressCard slots.

Reportedly, HP’s EliteBook 8470w comes with a Windows 7 Professional operating system (64-bit), DVD Burner and a built-in 6-cell battery that presumably has autonomy of up to 4.6 hours on a single charge.
