The HP EliteBook 1040 G10 and EliteBook x360 1040 G10 can now be configured with Intel's new Raptor Lake P and U class processors, up to 64 GB DDR5 RAM, 2 TB NVMe SSD and a 120 Hz screen. HP says it will reveal the laptops' prices and availability later this year.

Last year's HP EliteBook 1040 G9 introduced the now-industry standard 16:10 screens. Its next revision, the EliteBook 1040 G10 and EliteBook x360 1040 G10 continue that legacy and throw a higher resolution panel in the mix. Fundamentally, however, the laptops are largely identical to their predecessors, save for a dash of new hardware here and there.

Given their position as thin-and-light laptops, HP uses Intel Raptor Lake U and P processors in the EliteBook 1040 G10 and EliteBook x360 1040 G10. Unfortunately, the exact SKUs aren't mentioned, but they'll likely differ based on enterprise and consumer models. One has to make do with the Raptor Lake iGPU, though.

The default battery capacity on both laptops is 38 Wh, but one can upgrade that to 51 Wh if needed. Unlike its last-gen variant, the EliteBook 1040 G10 and EliteBook x360 1040 G10 come with user-upgradable RAM. The former supports up to 64 GB of memory while the latter cuts it down to 32 GB, which is still plentiful, especially for a thin-and-light. One can couple it with up to a 2 TB NVMe SSD.

As mentioned earlier, HP has introduced some new display options for the EliteBook 1040 G10 and EliteBook x360 1040 G10. They are now available in WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) and WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) resolutions with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 500 nits. A 5 MP webcam sits on top of the screen with a privacy shutter.

Connectivity options on the EliteBook 1040 G10 and EliteBook x360 1040 G10 include two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, two 5 Gbps USB Type-A ports, one HDMI port, and one 3.5 mm audio jack. One can also add a 5G-enabled nano SIM card slot and Smart Card reader. The laptops support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
