The Framework laptops are best known for their modular and repairable design. Now, the company has taken things to the next level by open-sourcing the 3D CAD files for its 16-inch laptop. This will enable users with 3D printers to make their own accessories.

If you own the Framework 16 and a 3D printer, you can now make your own custom accessories for the laptop. The company has open-sourced 3D CAD design files, which adds a new standout element to the model. This, according to Framework, will enable you to make custom "cases, skins, and other customization parts."

Of course, this isn't the only open-source aspect of the Framework laptop 16. The company previously released the documentation for the laptop's input modules, expansion cards, expansion bay, and webcam. You can also freely access the 2D drawings and schematics of the motherboard, which allows hardware hackers to use the mainboard and put it to a different use.

Additionally, Framework has announced that the 16-inch laptop is now in stock. That means you will not need to wait for months to get it shipped. The company promises no longer than 1-2 weeks of wait but aims to bring it down to just five days in the future. Also, the previous pre-order backlog is said to be caught up.

Worth noting that the Framework laptop 16 is the most ambitious modular model from the company yet. But it appears to not have as many good reviews as the 13-inch model. Most of it has to do with the fact that it delivered underwhelming gaming performance and sub-par battery life (INIU 140W laptop power bank curr. $79.99 on Amazon). Reviews have also pointed out that the cooling fans can get pretty noisy.

But now that Framework has started to focus more on the 16-inch laptop, it could get better over time. We may also see the company releasing newer hardware modules soon.
