October 26th and the Windows 8 launch are right around the corner, and companies are scrambling to have their devices ready by then. ASUS first unveiled their Taichi Ultrabook at Computex back in June of this year, and the device can finally be pre-ordered.
The Taichi's claim-to-fame is definitely its dual 11.6", 1080p displays, located on either side of the notebook's lid. In addition, the device is powered by a 1.7GHz Core i5 CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. Upgrades include up to an i7 CPU and a larger SSD, but users will apparently be saddled with the Intel 4000 graphics.
Pre-orders are currently being taken by Amazon, TigerDirect and others, with a starting price tag of $1,299. As expected, the release date is set for the 26th of October, but it is unknown if pre-orders will ship out beforehand.
