This smartphone was built for photography enthusiasts

There has been a lot of hype about Nokia's upcoming smartphone. Hints and rumors of the device sporting an incredible 41 MP camera have done a lot to capture the public's interest. The Lumia 1020 will also be the Finnish company's first supercamera/smartphone to run on Windows Phone.

While we don't yet know what processor will power the device, it is thought to have 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal memory (not expandable), NFC, FM radio, Windows Phone 8, an optional wireless charging backplate, and of course its 41 MP back-facing camera.

To round out the photography package, the smartphone will also include built-in optical image stabilization (OIS), a xenon and LED flash, an F2.2. aperture, and a new Pro Camera app that will offer more advanced photo settings.

While Nokia have apparently denied earlier rumors that the smartphone would be officially unveiled on July 11th, it is still expected to launch before the end of the month with Microsoft stores to have it by the 22nd.

The Lumia 1020 will be available in yellow, white, or black starting at US$602 off contract. Pricing and availability for other countries have not yet been announced.
