AMD C-70 vs AMD C-60 vs AMD C-30

AMD C-70

► remove from comparison

The AMD C-70 (codename Ontario) is a dual core processor for small notebooks and netbooks. It offers a relatively powerful integrated graphics card and a single channel DDR3(L)-1066 memory controller. Compared to the C-60, the currently known specifications of the C-70 are absolute identical including the 1 GHz base frequency and 1.33 GHz Turbo Core speed.

Inside the C-70 two Bobcat cores can access 512KB level 2 cache per core. In comparison to the Atom processors, the Bobcat architecture uses an "out-of-order" execution and is therefore faster at the same clock speed. However, the performance is far worse than similar clocked Penryn (Celeron) or Danube (Athlon II) cores.

The integrated AMD Radeon HD 7290 or AMD Radeon HD 6290 graphics card (depending on the source, but same specifications) offers 80 shaders and an UVD3 video processor. Compared to the slow GMA 3150 in the Atom processors, the HD6290 offers a lot more performance and is about as fast as the Nvidia ION graphics solution. Compared to the HD 6250 in the C-50, the 6290 also offers Turbo Core to overclock to up to 400MHz (same 276MHz base speed).

The processor speed is somewhere between a single core 1.6 GHz Atom N455 and a dual core Atom N550 depending on the benchmark (see below). Therefore, the performance is still in netbook regions and only suited for low demanding tasks.

The power consumption is rated with a TDP of 9 Watt by AMD and therefore a bit higher as the single core Atom CPUs at 1.6 GHz.

It offers a relatively powerful integrated graphics card and a single channel DDR3(L)-1066 memory controller. Compared to the C-50, the C-60 offers the same base clock speed but in addition a short Turbo Core overclocking to 1.33 GHz.

Inside the C-60 two Bobcat cores can access 512KB level 2 cache per core. AMD C-30

► remove from comparison

The AMD C-30 (codename Ontario) is a single-core processor for small notebooks and netbooks. It offers a relatively powerful integrated graphics card and a single channel DDR3-1066 memory controller.

Compared to the faster C-50, the C-30 has only one activated processor core but is on the other hand a bit faster clocked.

Inside the C-30 one Bobcat core can access 512KB level 2 cache. In comparison to the Atom processors, the Bobcat architecture uses an "out-of-order" execution and is therefore faster at the same clock speed. However, the performance is far worse than similar clocked Penryn (Celeron single core) or Danube (AMD V-Series) cores. Compared to Intel Atom processors, the calculating power is somewhere between a 1.3 - 1.6 GHz clocked single core Atom (e.g. Z520 - Z530 in 3DMark06 CPU test) processor.

The integrated Radeon HD 6250 graphics card offers 80 shaders and an UVD3 video processor. Compared to the slow GMA 3150 in the Atom processors, the HD6250 offers a lot more performance and is about as fast as the Nvidia ION graphics solution. Due to the slow processor part, most games still are not playable. The main advantage however is the possibility to fluently play back most HD videos using the UVD3 core.

The power consumption is rated with a TDP of 9 Watt by AMD and therefore a bit higher as the single core Atom CPUs at 1.6 GHz.
