B&N could release a pair of new tablets

Leaked presentation hints towards $349 Barnes and Noble tablet accompanying Nook Color 2

With Amazon taking over headlines thanks to their upcoming September 28th presser and possible tablet announcement, it’s only fitting that more rumors of Barnes & Noble’s tablets begin circulating in order to even out the score.

This time the info comes via The Digital Reader and a slide they have obtained from a B&N planning meeting earlier this week. The slide, which was not published due to fear of repercussion, supposedly outlines 3 upcoming B&N e-readers and unveils their pricing scheme.

According to the website, the leaked slide speaks of the Nook Smart Touch, Encore and Acclaim and prices the devices at $139, $249 and $349 respectively. While it appears that the Smart Touch and Encore are previously used codenames for the 6” Nook Touch and 7” Nook Color, this is the first that anybody has heard of a Nook Acclaim.

Of course at this point anything else is only speculation, as the Acclaim could refer to anything from a more powerful Android tablet, to a larger Nook Color, or even a prototype that never sees the light of day. Of course, the $100 difference in price between the Acclaim and Encore isn’t considered much in the tablet world, and as such we’ve got our money riding on the device being a 9-10” version of the company’s upcoming Nook Color 2.
