The Second Try. In the Eee PC 1215T, Asus releases a new AMD netbook with a 12 inch display onto the market that allegedly bids more performance than its predecessor. You regrettably wait in vain for a matt HD display. We've put the newest Eee sprout through its paces.

Our test unit came pre-loaded with Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit), whereas the unit available in the market comes with DOS. So obviously, you’d be paying more than Rs 22,499 if you’re buying the one with Windows. While we await the price confirmation, below are the specs of the unit available currently. We’ve rated this product considering that it is priced at 22,499, with DOS. If it was with Windows, in this price, it would’ve been a steal. But with Windows 7, the price will be nearing 28K (approximately), in which case, it’s better to buy a dual-core netbook built around an Ion platform. Or better yet, get a full-fledged laptop for 30K.

The Asus Eee PC 1215T is a 12-inch netbook which offers greater performance, larger screen compared to Intel Atom-based netbooks currently available in the market. It can also play 1080p HD video files and comes with an HDMI port. However, it has a below-par keyboard and battery life.

For those that want a higher performance netbook that can achieve high definition media playback, the ASUS Eee PC 1215T offers an excellent package for prices under $400. The AMD Athlon II Neo processor, Radeon HD graphics, 12-inch display and HDMI output all make for a great media capable netbook. The downside is that all of this extra performance does take a toll on the battery life of the system as well as the size.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users.
Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.
Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.
Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
ATI Radeon HD 4250: Onboard graphics card (in the RS880M chipset) for AMD processors with Avivo HD support and technically a higher clocked HD 4200.
AMD Radeon HD 6320:
Integrated graphics card in the Zacate netbook processors (e.g. E-450) featuring an UVD3 video decoder and no dedicated memory. Thanks to TurboCore, it can automatically overclock to 600 MHz.
These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrated (shared memory) graphics card in the intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimally faster than an old GMA 950 and therefore not suited for 3D games or HD videos (only MPEG2 acceleration).
» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
AMD Athlon II Neo:
K125: Slow entry level single core CPU for small and light laptops. Still faster as 1.6 Ghz Atom based systems.
Intel Atom: The Intel Atom series is a 64-Bit (not every model supports 64bit) microprocessor for cheap and small notebooks (so called netbooks), MIDs, or UMPCs. The speciality of the new architecture is the "in order" execution (instead of the usual and faster "out of order" execution). Therefore, the transistor count of the Atom series is much lower and, thus, cheaper to produce. Furthermore, the power consumption is very low. The performance per Megahertz is therfore worse than the old Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz on par with a 1.6 GHz Atom).
N570: Dual core Atom processor with a slightly higher clock rate than the Atom N550 and therefore still slower than the CULV processors.
AMD E-Series:
E-450:
Dual Core low power processor with an integrated graphics cards. The processor is on a level with Celeron SU2300 (1.2 GHz) and the GPU part about as fast as an Nvidia ION (2).

77.7%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
