ARM releases new dev toolkit for Android, promises to better JAVA

Teaser
ARM has developed a development kit for the developers which helps them create applications that run four times faster than Java code on Android

A new Android Development kit is being developed by ARM called the Development Studio 5 (DS-5) Community Edition. This software is free and will allow the Android developers to create applications that can run up to four times faster than Java code on Android.

It also seems to be unique compared to the SDK and NDK development tools as DS 5 is more energy efficient in terms of performance. This Community edition software allows the users to view the processor information and will also allow the development of Java and C/C++ code. It can be said this toolkit is definitely going to make the life of the developers easier. It is also equipped with an integrated graphical debugger.

The ARM Streamline Performance Analyzer is also added to the toolkit, which captures the information on the system performance and makes it easier for the developers to see problems in their code and make it more efficient. This support for Streamline can be added with an open source driver from Linaro.

This toolkit is also made with a goal of helping the developers to create amazing user experience with their applications. According to John Carnish, ARM’s executive vice president and general manager, system design division, this will also allow them to take full advantage of ARM processor technology using the native code to deliver the performance and functionality that consumer demands.
