HP unveils notebooks with new AMD A-series

Teaser
The recently announced Fusion Llano core will be finding its first home in a series of upcoming inexpensive HP notebooks

HP will be one of the very first major companies to include the recently announced AMD A-Series of Fusion processors into their lineup of notebooks.

Amongst the wide selection of HP laptops, the Pavilion dv-series, g-series and ProBook s-series will be getting the AMD A-series treatment. The multimedia-oriented 14-inch Pavilion dv4, 15.6-inch dv6 and 17.3-inch dv7 will be updated with the Llano chipset and will include other HP-specific features as well such as CoolSense for improved heat flow and dissipation. The new dv-series will take advantage of the dual-core A4 and quad-core A8 Llano chipsets.

The Pavilion g-series will be updated with the new Fusion cores as well, specifically the G4, G6 and G7 laptops. This lineup is targeted at budget customers and should be perfect for basic office tasks and productivity.

Meanwhile, the Llano-equipped ProBook s-series will be geared towards business users. This includes the 14-inch ProBook 4435s, 14-inch 4436s, 14-inch 6465b, 15.6-inch 6565b and 15.6-inch 4535s. The notebooks can be customized to incorporate a wide range of Fusion A-series processors as well, with optional 3G data support. The 6465b and 6565b will be configurable with SSDs storage options.

The Pavilion dv6 and dv7 will have a starting price of $600 and $700, respectively. The more budget-friendly g4, g6 and g7 models will be at $450, $498 and $500, respectively. Both series are expected to be available sometime this July. The Probook series begins at $520 or $680, depending on SSD options, and should be available later this month on the 27th. Pricing and release information on the Pavilion dv4 was not mentioned in the press release.
