In yet another sign that 3D-printing is moving from the realm of enthusiasts to commercial viability, Colgate has created 3D-printed chewables for easy oral care on the move. Developed in partnership with the British Nourish3D which specializes in 3D-printing dietary supplements of your own design, the colorful chewables of Colgate are called Nutristacks, as they address various other health or cosmetics problems other than the dental care features they provide. Colgate now sells no less than six different Nutristacks with names like Zen, Immunity, Glow, Focus and Energy. All Nutristacks provide the following oral care features:
- Support for healthy plaque pH
- Enamel protection by reducing plaque acidity
- Support for natural defences against cavities
The ingredients that ensure that list are similar to what goes in your mouthwash, together with ones like arginine, xylitol, B12, or calcium. In addition, Colgate has tasked Nourish3D to print extra layers in each Nutristack depending on what it is meant to additionally address, ranging from Ginseng for the Energy stack, to Vitamin E for the Glow stack. The Colgate Nutristacks are sold in a pack of 28 for £35.99, or you can choose a monthly subscription model for £29.99. Mum's the word on exactly how Nourish3D is 3D-printing the oral care Nutristacks, but Colgate warns that they are not a substitute for good ol' daily brushing and flossing.
