Toshiba’s ultra-portable 13.3" Sandy Bridge laptops feature i3/i5 processors and a magnesium casing

Toshiba first showed off their new Protégé R830 series back at the MWC in Barcelona, but didn’t provide any information about pricing and release. Fortunately for those interested in the ultra-portable machine, the laptop now appears to be up for ordering from Toshiba’s online shop.

The Protégé R830 series feature either a Sandy Bridge Core i5-2410M processor or a Sandy Bridge Core i3-2310M processor. In addition, the 13.3” laptop features a 1366x768 pixel resolution, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, Integrated Mobile HD Graphics, a 640GB HDD running at 5400rpm, and Windows 7 Home Premium. Other notable features in the 3.2 pound laptop include a magnesium casing, a honeycomb rib structure and a hard drive impact sensor that all work to protect the laptop from nicks and bruises.

As it stands, the i5 version of the Protégé R830 will set you back $929.99 while the i3 version is only 30 bucks less at $899.99. Unfortunately, as of now, only the Core i3 version is available for ordering from ToshibaDirect.com and those looking to spend the extra cash for a more powerful processor will have to hold onto their wallets for a bit longer.
