Samsung's highly-awaited Exynos 1080 SoC has made its first appearance on Geekbench. It manages to outperform the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with a single and multi-core score of 888 and 3,244, respectively. The chipset is expected to make its debut alongside the Vivo X60 series on December 28.

Much like last year's Vivo X50 series, its successor -the Vivo X60- will also mark the debut of never-before-seen hardware. However, things are a lot more exciting this time around, as Samsung's Exynos 1080 SoC will make its debut alongside the Vivo smartphones. The silicon has finally made its first appearance on Geekbench.

Previous AnTuTu listings painted a pretty picture of the Exynos 1080, as it managed to perform every current-generation Qualcomm chipset. Its Geekbench listing (via Abhishek Yadav on Twitter) tells us the same story, with the SoC managing to net a single-core score of 888 and multi-core score of 3,244. Those numbers are similar to that of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865+.

It'll be interesting to see how the Exynos 1080 fares against Qualcomm's upcoming upper-mid-range Snapdragon 775G. If early AnTuTu results are anything to go by, Samsung has won this round, as the Exynos 1080 manages to score 693,600. With a score of 530,000, the Snapdragon 775G stands no chance.

Vivo is expected to unveil the Vivo X60 series on December 28, so it won't be long before we get to see the Exynos 1080 running at full strength. On the other hand, there is no word about the Snapdragon 775G's launch window.
