Samsung has brought an amazing product, which also won the Innovation Award of CES-2012. Samsung has made something that most us might have fantasized about, the Samsung Smart Window. It is a transparent 22inch LCD display which can do anything that a tablet can do.
This LCD device provides a resolution up to 1680 x 1080 pixels and a contrast ratio of 500:1. This screen is also said to be 20-22 percent more transparent than old LCD’s. We can literally accept this device as a complete transparent glass. However, we also have a positive point in this device as the screen is a single side mirror so you need not worry about your privacy.
During its announcement Samsung also revealed a series of applications for the product, which also includes digital blinds. One can have the feeling of actual window through the digital blind application and they can also control the amount of light coming in by open/closing the blinds. It is also possible to access Twitter accounts on the device and even work with the help of the application for Microsoft Office.
If you are wondering about, what about transparency at night or in the dark, Samsung has also provided a solution for that. It has two edge-lightning sources, which make the screen visible in case of dark surrounding. With this device watching television is also possible.
Although this transparent screen technology was earlier introduced by Samsung in March 2011, it was not a big success. Again this device cannot be called as the first transparent TV as Haier has already launched a transparent OLED TV, but Samsung Smart Window is more than just a TV.
The Price and the shipping details of the devices is yet to be revealed, however we can expect it to be in mass production by the end of 2012.
