Funbox Media is bringing Battle of Rebels to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam on Thursday, August 28, 2025, with an Xbox Series X version to follow. The publisher will also offer physical editions for Switch and PS5 alongside the digital launch.
Battle of Rebels is a first-/third-person shooter developed by solo developer NYX Digital, with both single-player and online multiplayer. The premise is pulp sci-fi: aliens have planted cloning machines across city centers, turning people into zombies. In the campaign, you clear infected zones, draw out an alien boss, earn an access key, and shut down each machine; the story is split across five levels. For multiplayer, the focus is small-team, cross-platform skirmishes in a 2v2 arena. The feature list also includes drivable tanks, controllable drones, and a broad weapons pool.
"Award-winning" isn’t just boilerplate here. The game is being promoted as a winner of the Unreal Florida Game Competition, and Funbox’s press materials shed light on multiple Unreal competition accolades tied to the project’s development. This is also Funbox Media’s first entry into online multiplayer publishing.
PC players get clear system requirements: minimum calls for an Intel Core i7-4790K / Ryzen 7 1800X-class CPU, 8 GB RAM, and a GTX 1650 or RX 480; recommended steps up to an i7-7700 / Ryzen 7 2700X, 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 1060 6 GB, RX 590 8 GB, or Intel Arc A750.
A bit of history should help frame this release. An earlier Steam app entry tied to "Battle of Rebels" was delisted years ago; the new page - under Funbox Media’s franchise banner - has the current build, feature set, and date. If you remember the old listing, the current release is the one to track.
If you're deciding where to play Battle of Rebels, the pitch is pretty consistent across platforms: a compact single-player campaign, small-team online arenas with cross-platform support, and an easy-to-dive-into sci-fi setup. On PC, the requirements are modest by 2025 standards, and on Switch/PS5 the draw is availability and boxed editions. If you want to lock in a copy or wishlist ahead of launch, the official pages and retailer listings are live now.
