Casio’s upcoming MRG-B5000HT-1 has been spotted in Europe, giving us our first real look at the watch. The new MRG-B5000HT-1 brings traditional Japanese hammering technique, tsuiki, to the iconic square MR-G design for the very first time.

Casio’s upcoming limited-edition G-Shock MRG-B5000HT-1, part of the brand’s flagship MR-G series, has been spotted at a European watch retailer ahead of its official launch.

We first learned about the MRG-B5000HT’s existence in early June, followed by a string of leaks that subsequently revealed more details about the watch, including its possible features and pricing. Now, we finally have our very first look at the watch—and it doesn’t disappoint. The new render highlights the defining element of the limited-edition model: the “tsuiki” design, a centuries-old Japanese hammering technique traditionally used to craft samurai armor. That heritage can be seen in the deeply textured titanium bezel and bracelet, which give the watch a distinctive, battle-worn aesthetic. The overall design stays true to the MRG-B5000 series DNA, but adds refinements with rose gold-toned accents and an inverted LCD, blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern G-Shock toughness.

Separately, known G-Shock tipster @Geesgshock has posted additional imagery of the MRG-B5000HT-1, calling it “a lot better IRL than the render.” He also added that the version spotted in Europe appears to be a demo unit from a recent private event, suggesting that retailers are already previewing the piece for VIP clients.

Casio hasn’t officially announced a launch date for the MRG-B5000HT-1, but signs point to an August or September release. Word on the street is that only 500 units will be produced globally, and it won’t come cheap; Japanese pricing is reportedly set at ¥935,000 (~$6507), while European prices are rumored to land between €7,300 and €7,500.

Casio has previously released at least two Hammer Tone models featuring the Tsuiki pattern, with the MRG-G1000HT from 2016 being the most notable. However, this marks the first time the company is bringing its traditional tsuiki technique to the square MR-G lineup.
