Toyota has unveiled the bz7 at the Auto Shanghai 2025 event. This new model has been designed in collaboration with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co (GAC). It joins Toyota’s other battery electric vehicles, which include the bZ4X and the bZ3.
So far, Toyota has released only a few details about the upcoming bz7. It has described the electric sedan as a flagship model, and we know that it is almost 200 inches (~5,080 mm) long. The exterior and interior design of the bz7 is close to the original concept, which was revealed in 2024. It features a lidar sensor mounted to the front of the roof, with a front light bar and headlights similar to those on the Toyota Prius.
One change compared to the concept is the addition of traditional door handles. Inside the EV are white leather seats, wood trim and ambient lighting. There is also a larger infotainment screen with Huawei’s HarmonyOS. Further details about the EV, including its powertrain, have yet to be revealed.
Toyota will launch the bz7 in China; according to a recent press release, the company is aiming to bring the EV to customers within the next year. Rumors suggest that the starting price for this model is CNY 170,000 (~$23,400). While Toyota has yet to confirm whether or not it will launch the bz7 in other markets like the US, where it already sells EVs like the bZ4X, it seems unlikely based on the current information.
