Tesla has bumped the price of the Model S and Model X by $10,000 with a mandatory bundle deal that includes free FSD and lifetime Supercharging, as well as four years of Premium Connectivity and service gratis.
These options alone are worth $15,000 instead of the $10,000 that Tesla now charges for them in the bundle, and when the free lifetime Supercharging is added, the Model S and Model X deal comes just in time before the federal tax credit ends on September 30.
Model S/X prices with free FSD and lifetime Supercharging
- Model S AWD: $94,990
- Model S Plaid: $109,990
- Model X AWD: $99,990
- Model X Plaid: $114,990
The federal budget is something that Tesla can't influence so it reacted in other ways, introducing its largest suite of promos and buying incentives in the last quarter of federal subsidies' existence. For the Model Y, this meant a promotional APR financing rate, lease payment deal, as well as one free option upgrade for units in inventory, as well as free wheels or colors.
For the Model 3, Tesla offered zero APR financing with FSD purchase, the same free option upgrade for inventory, and free Supercharging for a year.
Model Y APR financing rate promo is ending soon
According to Tesla, the promotional Model Y APR financing rate of 3.49% that dropped when the US government announced the end of the federal tax credit incentive along with a very enticing lease payment promo, will be gradually deprecated over the course of the next few weeks.
That goes for the Model 3's zero APR financing, too, and the speed of the phaseout will depend on the amount of orders Tesla registers in the next weeks.
One of the other Model 3 promos is ending much earlier, though, as Tesla announced that it will stop offering free Supercharging for a year as soon as Monday, August 18. In Canada, however, Tesla is now extending the 18-month charging deal for the Model 3 to a free lifetime Supercharging promo.
In short, Tesla might think of something else to counter the loss of the $7,500 in Model 3 and Model Y tax credit after September 30, but since now demand is strong, it would start removing all APR financing promos and other freebies, even for those who take delivery by then.
