Major Android Wear update coming up in August

Teaser
It looks like the update mostly aims to catch up with Apple rather than provide breakthrough, killer features.

According to a new report, the next major Android Wear update that initially was supposed to be released in July, will be postponed till August. The good part of the news is that the update is going to bring some interesting features to Google-powered smartwatches.

Some of the new Android Wear features, however, have already been available on Apple Watch for some time now. It looks like the update mostly aims to catch up with Apple rather than provide breakthrough, killer features.

The Android Wear update will allegedly bring interactive watch faces with a new, single tap gesture that will improve interaction between the users and their smartwatches. The gesture will allow the users to launch activities, display additional information on the watch face, or make visual changes to it.

Another new feature, called Together, will be cross-device communications, bringing new ways of sharing data (like messages, stickers, emojis, and doodles) with other smartwatch users.
