The IKEA Bergvattnet Water meter for shower is rolling out across Europe. Arriving in the UK and France in July, this bathroom accessory is now also available in countries like the Netherlands and Spain.
Described by IKEA as a smart shower monitoring solution, the Bergvattnet water meter helps you to make your shower more eco-friendly. On the large display, users can see how much water they have used and the current water temperature. Plus, it tracks the duration of your shower, with the timer automatically resuming if the water flow is paused for less than two minutes. IKEA says that its product “creates awareness” of water usage, and could also trigger some friendly competition in your household around who is the most efficient shower user.
The Bergvattnet water meter is said to be compatible with many thermostatic and standard shower mixers. It can be connected to the lower mixer outlet or the shower kit’s inlet, as water flow is tracked in both directions. The battery-powered product comes with a sealing washer and has a three year guarantee. This device is part of a wider range of limited edition ‘water-efficient solutions’. Other products in the Bergvattnet range include an Auto diverter for shower, a Wash-basing mixer tap and a Hand shower with hose.
In the UK, the Bergvattnet Water meter for shower retails for £35.00. It is priced at €37.99 in the Netherlands and at €39.99 in Spain and France. It is unclear whether or when the IKEA Bergvattnet could be released in the US.
