Many people use laptop stands as a way to improve their posture while using their computer, by elevating it to a more comfortable viewing position. There are also those who use a laptop stand to enhance their laptop’s cooling system. Now, Lenovo has showcased the Smart Motion Concept which it claims is the industry's first smart laptop stand.
Also known as “Project Ballet”, the Lenovo Smart Motion Concept is a motorized stand with AI features that can automatically adjust a compatible laptop to the most suitable position for the user. According to Lenovo, the laptop stand will change its position when the user moves. It is able to do this as a result of having features such as facial tracking, gesture control, and voice commands. It also has health-oriented features such as posture reminders.
While it is just a proof of concept, the Lenovo Smart Motion Concept is designed to work with Lenovo AI PCs such as the Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition (read our review) which it integrates with, eliminating the need for external apps.
In addition, one of the images shared by Lenovo shows the Lenovo Smart Motion Concept can also double as a dock as the image shows the stand has a wide array of ports including ethernet, USB, and HDMI ports.
While Lenovo has eventually turned some of its concept products into commercially available products, there's no info on its smart stand getting that treatment.
