Insomniac Games has doubled down on a Fall 2026 launch for Marvel’s Wolverine, reiterating to fans that the game remains on track for its scheduled release date, and the timing is uncanny considering this was announced right after Rockstar delayed GTA VI into November 2026.
Insomniac Games announced in a post on X, signaling to fans, stating, “Don’t miss a shred of information. Wishlist Marvel’s Wolverine, coming Fall 2026,” along with a link to the game’s PlayStation store page, where wishlists are now live.
It’s pretty convenient for Insomniac to post this just days after Rockstar Games delayed Grand Theft Auto VI from its planned May 26, 2026, release to November 19, 2026, as the studio stated they need additional time for polish.
With GTA VI pushed back toward the end of 2026, Insomniac Games is likely on track to dominate with early holiday sales, without having to overlap with GTA VI’s release.
However, the studio has yet to reveal an exact release date for the game. Marvel’s Wolverine was a brewing concept during the ongoing development of 2018’s Marvel Spider-Man, with talks between Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel Games, and Insomniac Games.
Recently, on November 4, Marvel Games general manager Haluk Mentus praised Insomniac during a Game Informer interview, stating, “We have been working together for more than a decade and developed such a shorthand across multiple Marvel’s Spider-Man games that when the time finally came to bring Logan back in spectacular and visceral fashion, it was obvious to everyone that Insomniac was the perfect choice.”
By September 2021, Insomniac Games officially announced that Marvel’s Wolverine was in development with a brief teaser trailer during a PlayStation Showcase event. Unfortunately for Insomniac Games and to the surprise of many gamers, a targeted ransomware attack on the studio in December 2023 leaked Wolverine’s story assets and mechanics, followed by a clunky playable build.
However, Insomniac Games went quiet about Marvel’s Wolverine’s development after December 2023, with many fearing the project had been canceled amid the ransomware attack, along with a standalone Marvel’s Venom game.
Fortunately, this does not seem to be the case as Insomniac dropped a two-minute gameplay trailer during Sony’s September 24, 2025, State of Play. From what we know so far, Marvel’s Wolverine is reported to be the first installment in a trilogy leading up to a series of titles featuring the X-Men.
