HTC schedules "More than One" launch event for April 8
Following the rumors about its upcoming One M9+ smartphone, HTC sent out invites for a launch event dubbed "More than One" where it's expected to be announced. The event will take place on April 8 in Bejing, China. The official invite shows a sleek-looking smartphone with a curved back panel that appears to be made out of brushed aluminium and features dual cameras with a dual-LED flash.
If rumors are to be trusted, the main rear camera has a resolution of 20.7 MP, which is not uncommon for a modern flagship device. Much harder to believe is the claim that the front camera has a 13 MP sensor, but thanks to selfies' continuing popularity, it shouldn't be ruled out completely. The battery capacity is identical with the One M9 (2840 mAh) but the 5.2-inch display's resolution is allegedly QHD (2560x1440 pixels), which could lead to worse battery life unless an AMOLED screen is used.
Leaked photos of the One M9+ show that Mediatek's MT6795 octa-core SoC is installed along 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC storage. Android 5.0 Lollipop is used as the operating system. Some Chinese retailers have already listed the dimensions (150.9 x 72.5 x 10.2 mm / 5.94 x 2.85 x 0.4 inch) and claim that a fingerprint sensor is included.
It is unknown whether HTC is planning to release the One M9+ in Europe or the US. That, as well as the exact specifications, will be revealed in two weeks from now.
