Reviews for the HP Pavilion dv7-3163cl-b
Source: PC Mag

The HP Pavilion series of laptops are known for cool design and big beautiful screens. Now, with one of its latest iterations, the HP Pavilion dv7-3163cl-b ($799.99 list), they might be known for something else: a good bargain. The HP Pavilion dv7-3163cl-b, a solid, low-priced multimedia laptop that bundles in a printer, will keep the whole family entertained. But if you're a gamer, you're better off looking elsewhere.

ATI Radeon HD 4200: Onboard graphics adapter (RS880M chipset) with UVD2 (PIP support) and DX 10.1 support (compared to the older HD 3200). Beware, possibly no 2D acelleration in Windows XP (as the HD3200).
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

M520: Entry level dual core CPU by AMD which features an integrated memory controller (400MHz DDR2) and is based (partially?) on the K10 core. The performance should be most of the times compareable to a 2.0 Celeron Dual Core / Pentium (sometimes even to a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo).» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.3": Meanwhile the 17 inch display size is a more frequently offered standard format for desktop-replacements. The DTR-laptops can't be carried easily, need much energy but on the other side texts can be read easily and high resolutions are no problem. DTR mainly are intended for stationary usage on desks, where the weight and the energy need are unimportant.

3.3 kg: This weight is average for notebooks. Therefore the numerous mass of laptops with 15 inch display fits in this class of weight.
