Notebook is highly configurable with a wide range of AMD Llano APUs and even discrete-class graphics

The HP Pavilion dv6z Quad-Edition is now available for purchase at the HP online store.

Unlike previous Quad-Edition notebooks, this specific lineup of dv6z notebooks includes only AMD processor options. In fact, all processor choices are part of the recently released Fusion Llano family. This includes the Quad-Core A6-3400M up to the Quad-Core A8-3530MX. CPU speeds range from 1.4GHz to 1.9GHz, but can reach higher clock speeds of up to 2.3GHz or 2.6GHz with Turbo Core 2.0, depending on the model CPU chosen. This is achieved by boosting the clock speed of a single core from the processor in a similar manner to Intel’s Turbo Boost technology.

While each Llano processor has its own integrated GPU, HP is still allowing users some graphics options. Buyers can choose to outfit their “Discrete-Class Graphics” with up to 1GB of GDDR5 Radeon HD Dual Graphics.  Otherwise, system RAM is expandable up to 16GB, the display up to 1920x1080 pixel resolution, hard drive up to 1TB and battery up to 9-cells. All models will include 4x USB ports (2x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.0), an optical drive, 5-in-1 card reader, RJ-45, HDMI, VGA and an HD webcam.

The chassis of the Quad-Edition is similar to that of other 15.6-inch Pavilions and comes in aluminum with a metallic finish. Thickness is listed at 1.23-inches (3.12cm).

The dv6z Quad-Edition can be configured and ordered online starting at $650 with a standard 1-year warranty. We currently have a sample dv6z Quad-Edition notebook in our labs, so expect an extensive review on the Fusion-powered notebook in the coming weeks.
